autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>For most of my childhood, I lived with my divorced Mother and siblings.\u00a0 I learned many things as a child.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of them.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>Religion<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>My church choir mother taught me about religion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou had better pray the juice you spilled will come out of the carpet!\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>Time travel<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tired from her job, my Mother\u00a0 taught me about time travel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBe quiet or I will knock you into the middle of next week!\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>Irony<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Impatient with children, my mother taught me about irony.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKeep crying and I will give you plenty more to cry about!\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>The Circle of Life<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In her anger, my mother taught me about the circle of life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI brought you into this world, and I will take you right back out!\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>About receiving<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Even more angrily, my mother taught me about receiving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou will get it in the car on the way home!\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>About humor<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Even more impatiently, my mother taught me about humor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you step on a rusty nail and your foot falls off, don\u2019t come running to me!\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>About my roots<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pinching her pennies, my Mother taught me about my roots.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShut that door behind you.\u00a0 Do you think you were born in a barn?\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>And about justice<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>My favorite thing my Mother taught me about is justice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne day you\u2019ll grow up and have kids, and I hope they turn out just like you!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, my Mother was not my strongest role model as a child.\u00a0 I watched my Mother&#8217;s and my Grandmother\u2019s interactions with others, and I quickly decided I did not want to be like my Mother.\u00a0 I wanted to be like my Grandma!\u00a0 Grandma was kind and loving and patient.\u00a0 And, everyone she knew respected her!<\/p>\n<p>Parents, please watch what you say and do.\u00a0 Most children do follow their parents&#8217;
