Today is National maple syrup day.\u00a0 I know how I will celebrate!<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

I believe in celebrating life.\u00a0 In my opinion, we should celebrate something every day of our lives.\u00a0 And today the United States celebrates National Maple Syrup Day.<\/p>\n

Maple syrup tastes great on pancakes, French toast, and even bacon.\u00a0 It also makes oatmeal, grits, and maltomeal taste delicious.<\/p>\n

Did you know that 200 gallons of maple tree sap are needed to make one gallon of maple syrup?<\/p>\n

Also, did you know that real, quality maple syrup has health benefits?\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Antioxidants!<\/h4>\n

This sweet treat contains antioxidants.<\/p>\n

Other Compounds<\/h4>\n

It also contains numerous other compounds with health benefits.\u00a0 Some of these are not present in the maple tree.\u00a0 They form when the sap is boiled to make the syrup.<\/p>\n

One of these is quebecol, named after the maple-producing province of Quebec.<\/p>\n

These compounds reduce the growth of cancer cells and may slow the breakdown of carbohydrates in your body.<\/p>\n

Nutrients!<\/a><\/h4>\n

Do you have a bone density issue or epilepsy? Are you low in manganese?\u00a0 This delicious treat contains 165% of the RDA of manganese, which research has found to help\u00a0with bone density and epilepsy. It has other nutrients, too.<\/a><\/p>\n

Calcium: 7% of the RDA
