If you let people treat you like a doormat, you\u2019ll be quite forgotten in the end.\u00a0 ( Proverbs 29:21 MSG)\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Encouraging<\/p>\n

My husband and I are very kind and loving people. We help others every chance we get and treat others the way we want to be treated \u2013in all business and personal matters.<\/p>\n

BUT WE ARE NOT A DOORMAT!<\/p>\n

Sometimes the kind manner in which we treat others confuses people, especially people who are self-centered and put themselves first. And when others treat us like a doormat, we feel angry and hurt.<\/p>\n

We are experiencing one of these situations at this moment.<\/p>\n

What can we do in our current situation to teach the \u201cChristians\u201d who have treated us like a doormat that we are not a doormat? We must teach them how to treat us.<\/p>\n

Your response to other people\u2019s behavior teaches them what is and is not acceptable.\u00a0 So if you just roll over and take whatever they give out, you send a bad message.\u00a0 You send the message that it is okay for them to treat others any way they want to instead of how they want to be treated.\u00a0 People will always do what works for them until they have evidence that their way is not working.<\/p>\n

So when people treat you like a doormat, you must let them know their behavior is not okay.\u00a0 Simply change your response to begin to send this message.\u00a0 It is best to do this as gently as possible and with the same respect that you want and deserve.<\/p>\n

Simply change your response to others’ behavior if you don’t appreciate doormat treatment.<\/p>\n
