Do you sit around moping because your life is not the way you want it to be, or do you celebrate what is?<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

When I was a little girl, I imagined my life at my age much differently than it has turned out.<\/p>\n

Never did I imagine that I would have traumatic brain injury so badly that I would become disabled as I now am. \u00a0Nor did I ever imagine that I would have had 19 surgeries or that I would have part of both of my feet amputated in less than one year. I never thought that I would have to endure so many painful health issues.<\/p>\n

But it is how my life has turned out, and I am happy in spite of all of the fact that what is now my life is not even close to what I had imagined it would be.<\/p>\n

How could I possibly be happy in spite of all of these negative things?\u00a0 I learned to let go of my expectations by appreciating what is good in each moment of my life.<\/p>\n

I try to help others every chance I get every day of my life.\u00a0 Helping others gives me a reason to get out of bed and get dressed each day instead of lying around feeling depressed. And even before I get out of bed, I recount in my mind all the things I have to appreciate in my life at that moment and all of the possibilities in my future.<\/p>\n

The way I see it, sitting around moping because my life has not turned out the way I wanted it to would only make me feel depressed.\u00a0 And depression only makes health problems worse and sometimes creates new ones.\u00a0 So instead of moping, I celebrate what is good in my life and what is possible too.<\/p>\n

Hopefully you can celebrate what is good in your life and your future possibilities, too.<\/p>\n
