{"id":2311,"date":"2017-06-22T20:38:53","date_gmt":"2017-06-23T01:38:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bobbiejrae.com\/home\/?p=2311"},"modified":"2024-08-29T13:01:04","modified_gmt":"2024-08-29T17:01:04","slug":"sleep-well-tonight-bj-rae-eagle-encouraging-words","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bobbiejrae.com\/home\/sleep-well-tonight-bj-rae-eagle-encouraging-words\/","title":{"rendered":"Sleep Well Tonight!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><em>Strategies you can use to sleep well tonight.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-video\" data-allowfullscreen=\"true\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/lifesadanse\/videos\/1394678947312951\/\" style=\"background-color: #fff; display: inline-block;\"><\/div>\n<p>There have been times when I simply did not sleep well.\u00a0 It took me hours to fall asleep and then I just tossed and turned and woke up all night.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, that has not happened in a while.\u00a0 I have been sleeping like a baby.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some things you can do to sleep like a baby tonight and every night.<\/p>\n<h4>Jot down what worries you.<\/h4>\n<p>Jot down what worries you before you go to bed.\u00a0 Put this list somewhere you will remember it in the morning, but not in the bedroom.\u00a0 Resolve to get up and deal with it in the morning.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bobbiejrae.com\/home\/overcome-depression-forgive-eagle-near-river-encouraging-words\/\">Forgive anyone who has hurt you.<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>Forgive anyone who has hurt you today before you go to bed.\u00a0 Going to bed angry creates anxiety and anxiety keeps you awake.<\/p>\n<p>To forgive someone, write down what they have done to hurt you.\u00a0 Then pray for forgiveness for them.\u00a0 Then tear up what you have written about what he or she did to hurt you.\u00a0 Either flush the scraps down the toilet or burn them.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/www.webmd.com\/balance\/stress-management\/stress-management-relieving-stress#1\">Use good stress management techniques<\/a>.<\/h4>\n<p>Life is often very stressful.\u00a0 Stress makes it difficult to get a good night\u2019s sleep.\u00a0 How well you manage your stress during the day affects the quantity and quality of your sleep at night.<\/p>\n<h4>Pay attention to what you eat and drink.<\/h4>\n<p>Within in a few hours of going to bed, make certain you do not eat a heavy meal.\u00a0 Remember that both nicotine and caffeine are stimulants and can keep you awake at night. \u00a0Alcohol may make you sleepy but when it wears off you may wake up.<\/p>\n<h4>Create a restful environment.<\/h4>\n<p>Make your bedroom ideal for sleeping well.\u00a0 \u00a0To me this means dark and quiet.\u00a0 Light keeps me awake.<\/p>\n<p>I also practice piano or listen to music before I go to bed to help me relax.\u00a0 Sometimes I take a bath before going to bed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bobbiejrae.com\/home\/read-aloud-near-river-bj-rae-eagle\/\">Reading aloud<\/a> before going to bed helps me to sleep better also.\u00a0 When I was going through my divorce, I worried constantly. It was natural to worry constantly, but it definitely kept me from sleeping well. A therapist taught me a trick to stopping my worry: read out loud. My brain simply cannot worry and read out loud at the same time. So when I read out loud before going to bed, I do not worry at night.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>Life has kept me from getting a good night\u2019s sleep in the past, but for the past few years I have slept like a baby.\u00a0 I hope that you get the rest you deserve and need every night too.<\/p>\n<p>Remember that not sleeping well makes depression and anxiety worse the next day.\u00a0 It is critical to your well-being to get a good night&#8217;s sleep especially if you suffer from depression or anxiety or PTSD.
