Love someone?\u00a0 Tell your loved one you love him or her as often as possible.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

An old couple around the age of 70 walked into a lawyer\u2019s office one day.\u00a0 They told him they wanted to file for divorce.<\/p>\n

The couple had been arguing for their 40 years of marriage.\u00a0 Since their children were now grown, they both wanted a divorce. They just wanted to live their own lives free from the unhappiness of their 40 years of marriage.<\/p>\n

Unable to understand why a couple would seek a divorce after 40 years of marriage, the lawyer struggled to do the papers.<\/p>\n

While they were signing the papers, the wife told the husband, \u201cI really love you, but I really can\u2019t carry on anymore.\u00a0 I\u2019m sorry.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s okay, I understand\u201d, the husband replied.<\/p>\n

Looking at this, the lawyer suggested a dinner together, just 3 of them. The wife thought, “Why not, since we are still going to be friends?” At the dining table, there was an awkward silence. The first dish was roasted chicken. Immediately, the old man took the drumstick for the old lady. \u201dTake this, it\u2019s your favorite.\u201d Looking at this, the lawyer thought maybe there\u2019s still a chance, but the wife was frowning when she answered. \u201dDon\u2019t you know that I hate drumsticks?\u201d, she retorted.<\/p>\n

Little did she know that, over the years, her husband had been trying all ways to please her and that drumsticks were his favorite. Little did he know that she never thought he understood her at all. And little did he know that she hated drumsticks even though all he wanted was the best for her. That night, both of them couldn\u2019t sleep. After hours of tossing and turning in bed, the old man couldn\u2019t take it anymore. Knowing that he still loved her and needed her in his life, he tried to call her to tell her \u201cI love you\u201d.<\/p>\n

He picked up the phone and dialed her number, but she did not answer. So he kept trying to call her. \u00a0On the other side, she was sad. She couldn\u2019t understand why after all these years, he still didn\u2019t understand her at all. Knowing that he was trying to call, she refused to answer the phone.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s the point of talking now that it\u2019s over? I have asked for it and now I want to keep it this way\u201d she thought. Her phone kept ringing so she decided to pull the phone cord from the wall. \u00a0Unfortunately, she forgot that he had heart problems.<\/p>\n

The next day, she received news that he had passed away. Rushing down to his apartment, she saw his body, lying on the couch still holding on to the phone. He had had a heart attack when he was still trying to call her.<\/p>\n

In spite of her sadness, she still had to sort through his belongings.\u00a0 While looking through his drawers, she found a life insurance policy, dated the day they had married\u00a0 with herself as the beneficiary. With it was a note. \u201cI love you from the bottom of my heart, you are my everlasting love\u201d, it began. \u00a0\u201cTo my dearest wife, by the time you\u2019re reading this, I\u2019m sure I\u2019m no longer around, I bought this policy for you. Though the amount is only $100k, I hope it will help me continue my promise that I made when we married. Although I am not around anymore, I want this money to continue taking care of you, just the way I would if I had lived longer. I want you to know I will always be by your side because I love you\u201d<\/p>\n

Her tears flowed like a river.<\/p>\n
